Four Year Blog Anniversary - Nurgle Army Time!

On the day four years ago I started this blog. I had no idea what this would lead to. Quite early on though a Nurgle project took shape starting with creating a warband which then evolved into an army. This has since then been my main focus.

So to celebrate the anniversary I thought showing the army so far would be suitable.

There has been other projects as well, in particular the 40k Nurgle warband (link), The Adventure Starter Set (link) and the Exorcists Space Marines (link) but that is for another post.

Thanks for all your visits and comments so far. All very much appreciated and inspiring!!!

So here it is - the Nurgle army so far:

Overall army:

One thing I have done lately but have not posted about is creating movement trays for the units lacking them. Also done an overhaul of the bases to get a more homogene look. This will likely be a never-ending project, adding stuff for a long time ahead. A quick calculation using WFB3 + RoC gives roughly 3400 pts.

Leaders and others:

Still have to paint my army general and army banner (link) but the recent Nurgle Palanquin is the general at the moment. Here flanked by my latest additions. Behind them a few of the older once including a Troll, an Ogre and the Zebrotaur.

Beastmen / Creature unit:

This unit includes mostly C38 Beastmen but also a few random creatures such as the Giant snail. The leader in the Minotaur Lord.

Cavalry unit:

Will use these as Marauder cavalry. All are converted to a lesser or higher degree.

Chaos Dwarfs unit:

The first unit I finished. 14 chaos dwarf.

Thugs / Marauders / Warriors unit:

A mix of Thugs, Marauders and Warriors. Current plan is to paint a lot more of these and have separate unit for the three classes.

Creatures unit:

A mix of creatures and monsters from Citadel and Asgard and even a Giant. Haven't decided what rules to use for these. Possible Beastmen rules.

Whats's next:

With completed units my focus is characters and bigger miniatures. Working on prepping the Citadel Chaos Kegox Dragon at the moment. Will do a post of this soon. A baggage train and war altar is also being worked on.

That's all folks. Hope you have enjoyed my blog so far!

Nurgle Army Update: Nurgle Plague Cart

A Nurgle Plague Cart added to the army.

The model can be used with both undead and nurgle armies. As this is a nurgle one I added a face to the otherwise faceless sculpt. Added a chaos familiar and a nurgling to the base as well.

Working on the Chaos Dwarf cannons so these will likely be up next. Also just started prepping the Kegox Chaos Dragon ... this one will take a while

Thanks! /Hans

Nurgle Army Update: Nurgle Palanquin

Painted myself a Citadel Nurgle Palanquin.

My first try at this one was back in the days when you could actually buy one in a store. Never finished that one so it feels fantastic to have after this many years completed one! :)

I have three different ones but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to paint another one in a very long time. Thinking though of painting up the individual champions. Missing the one with plasma pistol though :(

Until I painted my army general (here) this will be the army leader.

Hope you enjoy it!

Nurgle Army Update: Citadel Minotaur Lord

In a bit of a painting spree at the moment :)

So here's the next addition to my Nurgle army. A Citadel Minotaur Lord. The base includes a Tick from the Citadel C29 Creepy Crawlies series and a Nurgling.

Adding a second little creature to the base is something I do more and more. There is quite a good selection of old Citadel miniatures for this. Especially when painting Chaos. You have a lot of well sculpted little creatures in the C29 Creepy Crawlies series and of course the Chaos Familiars and Nurglings.

Went for another very colorful paint job that I think looks more Tzeentch than Nurgle if one considers the classic take on chaos colors. Something I tend to happily ignore :)

Next up is likely a Nurgle Palanquin I'm working on. Also prepping a Nurgle Plague Cart.

See you soon!

Nurgle Army Update: Citadel Chaos Chariot

Well - another one added to the army.

A Citadel Citadel Chaos Chariot. It's not the original horses and some bits that should be attached to the chariot is missing. Pleased with the result but painting plastic horses is seriously boring.

That's all /Hans

Nurgle Army Update: Some new stuff

Hello again!

Two new miniatures and one new shield.

First out is the Citadel Weird Fantasy WF16 Midlands Troll. Its one of the few caricatures of Bryan Ansell created in the mid 1980s. The underside of the base on this one says "Wereansell". On the base I also added a Citadel wounded Runequest broo and a frog from the Citadel C29 Creepy Crawlies series.

Second one is a classic Citadel Chaos Sorcerer with a familiar.

Last one is an old mini (link) that I painted a new shield for. Its the CC5 Crabclaw from the Asgard Series Creatures of Chaos.

Hope you enjoyed this one!

Nurgle Army Update: Citadel C34 Chaos Demon

A new update to my Nurgle Army.

A chaos demon from the Citadel C34 series released around 1985. I'm not sure but I think this one is a bit rare. One rare thing for sure is the female look which you hardly see on old Citadel creatures.

Went for a very colorful paint job which was a lot of fun to do. The base is basically a shell filled with skulls into which I poured water effect once painted.

Hope you enjoy!
Thanks/Hans

Citadel Adventurers Starter Set #5: Completed!

Finally completed the Citadel Adventurers Starter Set.

Built myself a scenic base for the set as well. The idea is the entrance into a dungeon. Quite suitable for a set of adventurers I think.

All the miniature paint jobs are based on the artwork on the box. Omitting some details though that I didn't have the patience for like the checkered pattern on the night.

Included a few WIP shots of the base as well.

40k Nurgle Flying Techno Demon

Finished building the latest addition to my little 40k Nurgle Warband. Calling it a Flying Techno Demon.

The base is a space marine terminator torso with an Chaos epic head and a whip weapon as tail (see pic below).

Used an old jump pack as the source for the flying ability and custom built the arma/claws. Used green stuff and liquid green stuff to create texture. Some other bits and pieces too.

Hope you like it!

Many thanks! /Hans
