A very old citadel miniature. Part of the very first releases appearing in White Dwarf 12 (April / May 1979). The sculpts of these old minis varies a lot and I think you would agree this isn't the best. I like it though. In particular what I like with the old and strange is that they open up to your own interpretation and creativity. I.e. A weird mini = a weird paint job :)

It will be part of my new beast man unit which will probably be more of a creature unit (introduced here)
Found this illustration of it on the oldhammer forum:
Hope you enjoy it and thanks for stopping by

Those colours are so vivid. You've really bought a quirky old mini to life.
ReplyDeleteThanks Gareth! /Hans
DeleteHe looks a bit like the long lost brother of one of the ninja turtles, but, as always, your paint job is fantastic.
ReplyDeleteAll done Hans :)
Hahaha - he does! That would make him a mutant teenage mutant ninja turtle :)

The pose, the smile, the eyes, all of this looks strange... and it's finally what is excellent in this model, a unit of "strange creatures" is just as chaotic as can be. why always have violent creatures with huge weapons and aggressive poses? A unit of weird and creepy ones like this is just as threatening if you consider things.
ReplyDeleteexcellent ob and thanks for thnking out of the box Hans.
Tanks Asslessman - happy you enjoy it. What's great with a creature unit for me is the fun of creating it. You can put in anything you want more or less

He's a wee gem. I know what you mean about fondness for sometimes less than beautiful sculpts. I have a few of those affections too.We like what we like, one supposes.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I'm getting more and more into the really old stuff from Citadel and Asgard. So much for today unexplored stuff and quite a few gems as well.

A wonderfully weird creature, with your paint scheme it reminds me of something Captain Kirk might have encountered in the original Star Trek. Super!
ReplyDeleteThanks Zhu - True, it has a bit of ancient SciFi feel to it.
