Nurgle Army Update: Beast(men) unit WIP:s

Been working on quite a few miniatures at the moment for the Beast(men) unit. Prepping, fixing, mending, converting and basing... This is what's cooking:

1. Three Citadel C38 Beastmen and a Citadel Runequest Unicorn Broo:

The centaur is holding a handle in it's right hand. It seems whatever it's holding is broken off. The only pic I have found of this one is on CCM - that one is in the same state. Does anyone have a pic of this mini or knows what it's suppose to be holding?

2. Horse from Citadel C34 Beastmen Raiders/Riders. Don't have the rider for this one so might build something instead:

3.  Citadel Fiend Factory Giant Spider with it's base in the making:

4. Citadel Fiend Factory Manticore. Don't have the original wings to took these bits from the GW plastic spawn kit. Will probably add a bit of membrane as well to the wings.

5. Grenadier Ghost.
Really cool mini. I added some stuff to the sculpt so it looks like it's really part of the ground.

6. Citadel C38 Beastmen. It was missing the top of the spear so made it to a standard bearer. The standard is a piece of bone...

Hopefully something painted by the end of the weekend. We'll see /Hans

  1. Firstly I would like to express how excited this latest selection of minis had made me. I am sure that Manticore will be very special piece when completed. Secondly is my constant frothing over you work creeping you out?

    1. Well....

      1. Thanks! Had a lot of fun with my Weretiger so very much looking forward to paint the Manticore. A big smooth body with no stuff on it. Right up my alley :)
      2. Your "constant frothing" is a ... delight! :)

      Thanks/Hans

  2. Great selection of miniatures and conversions. I like the Grenadier ghost especially.
It will be good to see them painted.

    1. Thanks Lee!

The Grenadier Ghost has been standing on my desk for a long time. Got the idea to integrate it with the base yesterday so finally it will be painted :)

    1. Thanks Blue!

I think the Flyman will be quite pale and his bone banner an explosion of color (KABLAM!). Well, that's my thinking for now. It usually turn into something else while painting

  4. Don't know about the centaur but my best guess would be he's made to hold a shield... some plastic shields for the recent beatsmen could look good on such a model I think...
The standard bearer is an absolkute hit even in at ths stage, this bone effect gives a sort of Tony Hough drawing feeling (don't know how to say it better...
great things to expect, that's nice

    1. Thanks Asslessman!

I don't think it is a shield but a club, sword or other kind of weapon. Difficult to judge from the pic though. Will propably pop a question on CCM yahoo group.

Love Tony's artwork so if I can get a bit of his organic feel into the banner that would be awesome. The top of the banner is an actual piece of bone. Was going trough my scenary/base material boxes a few days ago to find stuff for the giant spider base and found some bone pieces. Had planned something very different for the banner but got the idea to use this bone piece for the standard.

  5. Looking really good. That beastmen unit is going to be stellar!
No idea what your centaur is supposed to be holding but aren't they known for being drunk most of the time?
Could be the handle of a beer stein?
Whatever you come up with I'm sure will be excellent.

    1. Thanks! Found out from Steve that it is a sword. Think I'm gonna restore it but like you idea with a beer stein...filled with liquid warpstone :)

  6. Very promising! I love the unicorn beastman. No idea what the centaur is supposed to be holding, I'm afraid.

The unicorn beastman is fantastic. Love the combination of a Unicorn (Lawful) with a beast of chaos :)

  7. I'll have to get you a picture of my complete centaur, Hans. The sword he holds is quite delicate.

    1. That would be absolutely great If you could. Much appreciated.

Usually take the opportunity with broken minis to create something of my own, like the Flyman above or the Slugman in previous post.

Really love this mini though and I have hardly ever seen it so it might be a bit rare - I.e. thinking about a restoration. Thinking also about trying to restore some of the detailing with green stuff as it is quite worn.

      Thanks/Hans

  9. I have a couple of the offending centaurs with the exact same problem of a missing weapon. I have never seen or heard of one with the weapon intact.

    1. Hi Joe,
You have a couple of them - NICE! :)
Any painted version of it you can share? I will hopefully get a pic of a complete version by Steve (above) - I'll let you know.
      Thanks/Hans

  10. Hi, Great stuff. Really love oldhammer beastmen. Just curious how the unbroken two headed centaur looked like. Did you get any info?
