Nurgle Warband Update: Another Thug

Finished another Thug - Mr Goatfoot.  For me a very classic mini after looking many many times at Ivan Bartleet's version of it in 1990 Fantasy Miniatures.

I'm really happy with the shied. Probably the best one I have ever done in my opinion. The design is not my own though. I was considering a few different options when I by accident came across this design in Warhammer armies (page 91) and realized it was perfect for this round concave Marauder shield.

Hope you like it.

At last a new group shot of the warband. It's done with my phone so unfortunately not the best quality.

  1. That, sir, is ace. There are no words I can use, but I think you know when you've done a good job. I look forward to the Nurgle army you're clearly working your way towards, even if you don't know it...

    Well done!

    Regards
    Gaj

    1. Thanks Gaj! Funny you mention Nurgle army. I was just thinking the other day of the next project. Was thinking about some orientals or maybe Ruglud's Armoured Orcs. I was also thinking about making this warband into an army. /Hans

  3. Apart from the brilliant technique, I find the slightly "tribal" design of that shield very fitting for this particular chap. Looks like if a Maori had designed Khorne at the studio in the 80's (it IS a compliment).

The rather different colour scheme for the ogre and the troll make them look a bit apart from the rest but I believ it's a good thing for such wild creatures. The zebrataur on the other hand is in perfect lining with the others (maybe an older recrute or a heaviliy mutated member?)
One question though, who is in charge of this merry crew? Guess it must be the wizard.

    Excellent looking warband anyway.

    1. Thanks Asslessman! You just gave me an idea mentioning Maori. Why not look at various tribes around the world for inspiration to patterns / colors? Think I have to do some research...

Happy you like the warband. I kind of like that they don't all look the same but has some individuality. Yes - I also think the Minotaur fits in. It's zebra skin harmonize with the black/white shields (coincidence though).

Haven't decided yet on the Champion. Will be a mounted one though (thanks for your earlier suggestion) but I have a few options but can't make up my mind.

      Thx/Hans

    2. Maoris' designs can be good but native americans too :

The sources are obviously not the most accurate but it's just to give you the idea what it makes me think about.
French hobbyists will also remember Bruno Grellier (Demon sword winner) who used to mix Blanche-inspired themes with these sorts of american designs (some excellent inquisitor minis). I can trace some back in old french WD's if you want.

    3. Cooooool - really good stuff. I especially like the Native American Circle Designs. Thanks!

I checked out Bruno at "http://demonwinner.free.fr/". The "Trike de Nurgle" was a favorite. If you have some pics where he used these kind of design that would be highly appreciated.

(BTW: Will create a post soon where I show the creation of my basis and skin. Next up are though armored minis by in a few weeks for sure)

      Thx/Hans
