Nurgle Warband Update: Cavalry nr. 3

A new addition to the cavalry unit.

This time a combination of an Undead Cavalry rider and a solid base C33 Mounted Adventurer horse (the Rogue). I kept the Rogue rider and will put him on a Skeleton horse.

I tried a new approach to painting the skeleton and must say I'm quite happy with the result.

  1. The overall pose is excellent and the skin with greens and purples is absolutely great.
Hans my friend, you really make me want to get out of the confort zone and experiment new things (with paint and on the models only). After the champion on bone armour, this skeleton proves green can be a good contrast for bone.
The link between them with the metals, shields and bases is just enough to map them look good together, there's much to learn from what you do here mate...

    1. Cool - great you like my approach! I like diversity in a unit/army. Especially for chaos which really benefits from a motley look. Some kind of unity is though needed for the overall feeling. One important aspect of this is just the style of painting used. The same person using the same style and even though different colors etc. might be used you immediately get part of the needed unity. Anyway that's my opinion. Of course, the diversity add a lot of fun to the painting as well.
Yes - go on experimenting (with paint and on the models only). For me, that is one of the more fun parts in painting. The worst thing that could happen is a bit of stripping (paint stripping).

    2. Well, I once was very oriented on building armies and that made me go for a "always the same look" approach. Now I'm adding side projects and I realize it really helps to keep the mojo running. And what you learn on side projects can be put to use for pigger projects like armies or dioramas so yes, I agree it's all win ...

    3. Well - if you want to finish painting an army somewhat quickly, my way of doing things is not the right way. I have accepted that I am a slow painter and how hard I try to finishing something quickly It just cannot be done...

  2. Very nice looking, I like the idea of using the skeleton for a chaos army. This warband will be very, it already is now that I think of it.

    1. Thanks! It's not a skeleton - it's a thug with a very bad case of Nurgles Rot ;)

    Very nice paint job!
Do you have plans for a large unit with cavalry?

    1. Thanks!

Well, I think in the end the size of the units will depend on how much fun I have painting/creating them. The cavalry is the most fun so far and I have quite a few ideas for new riders so it's likely to be quite a big unit.
