Nurgle Army Update: New additions to the Creature unit

Hello!

Not much activity on the blog or communities from me for a while. Too much other stuff at the moment I'm afraid. Manged a bit of painting here and there though and added a few more to the creature unit introduced here.

So here are four new - hope you enjoy!

Citadel Runequest: Demons, Rult: A great Runequest mini just perfect for a Nurgle army. Did it with more typical nurgle colors witch I think suited its ragged look.

Citadel Runequest: Broo / Beastman: Really cool Broo. Also added a nurgling to the base and got to paint a shield as well. Been a while since I done that. Kept the back & white approach. Quite tricky painting the shield as there where tiny reliefs on it demanding consideration. The idea for the design is the classic nurgle symbol where each relief is in the center of one of the three circles.

Citadel Runequest: Broo / Beastman

Citadel Runequest: Demons, Stalker: Another Runequest demon, this time a Stalker. Kept the palette very simple on this one.

Citadel Fantasy Specials: FS52 Large Statue: This is as the name suggests intended to be a statue. I thought though it would be perfect to this unit as an odd creature. Especially liked that it had a pedestal. Added something extra to the unit. Also on this one I kept the palette simpler focusing on light browns and blues/turquoise. The intention was to have a skin tone like feel with an added creepiness by the blues/turquoise. A little snake was induced as well on the mushroom (not sure which series)

That's all for now. Thanks of stopping by!

The stalker is excelent and in theven of other enries of yours.
The statue is reallya creepy one, that sculpt looks like a real challenge but yo really manage dto give it life and a sort of unpleasant aura.

    Lovely stuff !

    1. Thanks Asslessman!

Quite happy with the Broo - looking at the picture though now I think I should have used a more neutral color on the fur on the shield. Oyeah - blue nurgling rule.

Yes, the statue-mini was a challenge. Strange things going on in the sculpt and the mini itself didn't help with the result.

      Thx/Hans

  2. Excellent, they are that mix of horror and beauty that makes Chaos so interesting.

The Rult Demon is an unusual miniature and fits Nurgle very well. The ribs on the base almost suggest it is feeding or laying eggs.

The Beastman/Broo has some lovely blending of colours on the torso, head, and legs, and the shield really stands out.

The Stalker has a great sense of movement, in that it is about to pounce, and makes you fear what horror may be lurking under the cloak.

Good idea to use the large statue, it seems to glow from the eyes and from under the skin, a very nice effect. I like the blue teeth and claws. Nice adding the little snake, I have that miniature too and plan to put it on the base of a Slann Palaquin!

Brilliant and inspiring painting, thank you for posting.

Do you know which series that snake is from? (Can't find it)

  3. Nice new additions to the unit. Exquisite work on all four of them, though the Beastman is my personal favourite. The expressive face, the detailed shield design, the added blue nurgling...

    1. Thanks Ana! Quite a lot of work on that beastman. Might do new photos of it. The different colors of the face didn't show on these ones
      Thx!/Hans

  4. I always look forward to when you post; it gets me inspired. First to look abroad and anew at miniatures. Most of these miniatures I've never seen in the lead. And secondly to aspire to such a cohesive look in the painting.

I love the translucence on them. It makes for a very eerie, distinctive look.

    1. Thanks Simon for those kind words! :)
I mostly paint this old lead because I enjoy it. There is also the part of getting them back back to life. Soo much cool stuff from the pre-slotta period that you don't see much today getting paint on them.
      Cheers! /Hans
