Nurgle Warband Update: Sorcerer on Lizard Steed

The Sorcerer is based on an old Undead Cavalry with some added bitz and conversion. The mini was in terrible shape as it was a massive mis-cast. The rider e.g had no legs and the cloak was also missing parts and the horse was missing one leg. So part from bitz, quite a lot of green-stuff was needed.

Hope you like him.

  1. The lizard is absolutely brilliant with these colours an the sorceror is really good with his mutated limbs.
One a side note, I find the zombie hand to be a bit too big for the sorceror and the nurgling seems just to be put on top of the book, filling the space between him and the book could help or making his toes look like they grip the book would be fine.
Don't get me wrong Hans, you are several leagues above me and it's a brilliant miniature with a lot of character, these are just details I see ;).

    1. Thanks Asslessman. I actually like the size of the hand as part of his mutated body. You're absolutely right about the Nurgling though. It seems it is hovering above the book and considering how much time I spent on this mini that wont do. I guess I got a bit lazy in the end :(

And by the way: Thanks for the constructive criticism. Very much appreciated!

    2. Yeah, after typing this, I realised I was being picky about the size of the hand on a heavily mutated chaos devote...
For the nurgling, well, we all (especially me) miss things at some point(mould lines, unpainted areas, bent weapon or whatever...).
Glad you're the kind to take remarks for what they are when we try to be constructive ;).

  2. Very, very cool. Great job salvaging this mini. Really like the item at the top of the staff. Did you sculpt that with green stuff or is it a random bit? Either way, looks great. On Asslessman's point, maybe you could bend one of the nurgling's arms down so it looks like he's holding onto the book.

    1. Thanks Gary. Salvaging minis is a great reason for some conversion. The fly head on top of the staff is from the plastic chaos spawn kit. Really don't like that mini but the parts are excellent for conversion. I added a bit of green stuff to it as well to get a more organic feel. I'm not sure what to do with the nurgling yet. Will be something simple though. Thx for dropping by! /Hans

    2. Ahaha, agreed ! The chaos spawn sprue sucks for making chaos spawns but proves a goldmine for conversions. I actually built a chaos spawn out of it but only using the chest. The heads, spikes and arms prove very usefull on another hand though.

  3. The sorcerer is lovely and it's a nitpic really but I feel in the darkest bits you could afford to have a touch darker shade maybe a dark orange lining the deepest folds not much just a touch as the cloak is fairly flat it will add some depth.

Surprised you didn't at least include a shield on the base ;)

    1. Thanks Minitrol. I actually like that the cloak is quite light. Think it contrast well with the horse. Your feedback is appreciated though.

LOL - yes, no shield this time. To much stuff on it as it is.

  4. Very cool! Great conversions, great painting. I think the "odd" sized body parts contribute to that special chaos look I'm so fond of.
