Nurgle Army Update: Beasts and Beastmen

Continued on the Beastmen unit and decided to add some pure beasts to it as well.

My favorite is without a doubt the Giant Snail from the C22 Creature line. I think the sculpt is suburb. Don't know the sculptor, but I'm guessing Nick Bibby.

Added as well is a Giant Beetle from the C29 Creepy Crawlies line and of course another C38 Beastman. This time the Goatman.

Latest additions to the Beastmen unit: C29 Giant Beetle, C38 Goatman
and C22 Giant Snail

That's all for this week. Please enjoy! /Hans

  1. They're all cool, but the snail is just beautiful. This will be one hell of a beastman unit!

  3. That snail is a terrific sculpt. Great paint on all three.

  4. I have to say the snail makes me think of impressionist painting, maybe it's the little touches of colour here and there or the feeling that there's more than meets the eye with this model...
The goatman is great but he would benefit from being next to other models as the colours on all 3 are too close (just my opinion though ;))
The beetle is really good (why didn't it get its own shot?)

    Good work.

    1. I second that I suspect the Anti-Beetle League at work!

    2. Thanks Asslessman! Maybe a bit of impressionism - haven't though about that.

The Anti-Beetle League was indeed at work and ruined the photos of it. The photos looked ok of it , but once uploaded to blogger they went blurry. Maybe Google needs to adjust the adult filter a bit ... :)

  5. Again that goat man is ridiculously nice for such an old finger it is still a quality sculpt. Love the colour fades you have going with the beasts,

Look forward to more as always!

    1. Thanks Minitrol!

They are quite good sculpts actually. Easily to discard them I think as they are most often seen in a quite terribly worn state of oxidized bare metal. Feel I'm on a quest here to rejuvenate there good looks :)

  6. Excellent painting.
I love the many colours on the Giant Snail.
Also, the painting on the Goatman in which the blues and greens look very fluid, it looks like the sea, and gives a great feel of his flesh almost moving with Chaos magic.

    1. Thanks Goblin Lee!

It took a while to get the colors right on the snail as there is a lot of color and was difficult to get a bit a harmony between them.

  7. Very well done! First time i even heard of /saw these old citadel creatures. Dont know if you limit your chaos range to citadel stuff only but may I suggest the otherworld slug which is also very nice!

    1. Thank you very much! Oh yes - there are a lot of beauties when it come to monsters and creatures in the old citadel lines.

I am very much into Citadel (as the name of this blog might hint) but I don't limit me to them. Other favorites are old Asgard and Ral Partha. I'm going back in time at the moment exploring early 80's. Otherworld make some cool stuff and a favorite is the Giant Crayfish. Cool they they seem to stay quite close to the "original" in their monsters.

It will be an impressive sight the day your army stands ready and lined up for battle.

    1. Thanks! Very much looking forward to battle with this army and also using parts of it for warband games. The gaming will probably not happen for a while but it will for sure happen :)
